WEEK 05 – RESPONSE PAPER – THE MORMON RELIGION 2 Week 05 – Response Paper – The Mormon Religion In order to answer the question for this response paper it needs to be explained how the Mormon Religion was established. A brief history in Mormonism brings the name Joseph Smith to the forefront. He lived in New York and was one of a group of people who were disenchanted with organized religion and looked for a return to the “Primitive Gospel that had been taught in the New Testament” (Rogers, 2015). Joseph Smith claimed that when he was a teenager he saw a vision in which “God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ, appeared before him” (Rogers, 2015). There were other people who claimed to have visions but Smith took his a bit further. He also claimed that God told him that he was chosen to build a new church since other churches had been led astray. Smith also claimed that an angel visited him and showed him where gold plates were buried in a nearby hill.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
