Yousuf Huda 1302 – 005 Spring 2008 Kamalika Mitra SR 8 – extra credit April 7, 2008 In chapter eight of Nancy Wood’s Perspective on Argument , Wood discusses pseudoproofs and fallacies. They are explained to be an argument with little or no logos, ethos, or pathos proof. It also goes in depth with fallacies in logic, which are fallacies which appeal to logic but do not have any proof at all. Wood discusses fallacies that affect character which attack character and that damage ethos. Wood also discusses emotional fallacies which are the bandwagon appeal and other scare tactics. Along with these explanations and details, Wood provides numerous different images and advertisements to show evidence of these fallacies. My experiences with these fallacies almost always occur when I go shopping. I

Unformatted text preview: remember the first time I went to 24 hour fitness in Arlington, I started being bombarded with signs that if I took a certain multivitamin, protein shake, or protein bar, then I would be bigger and more fit faster. It didn’t have any ethos because it wasn’t FDA approved or anything. It wasn’t sponsored by anyone famous or with credible reputation. It didn’t have logos because the back of the item had a list of nutrients and it showed lots of saturated fat and large amounts of sodium. It didn’t have pathos either. When I looked at the advertisements, I didn’t really feel like getting bigger. I feel happy the way, I am and didn’t want to look bigger or more fit. I am fine the way I am. That was my experience....
