Lesman Education: The Fuel of Life It has been said that “education is not a preparation for life, it is life itself.” In fact, our real life experiences tell us that our most profound insights derive just as often from the quiet moments out of classrooms as in. Every meaningful experience serves as part of our lifelong education, wherever it happens, whether uplifting or maddening. Our interaction with the world, our mistakes, our accomplishments, all help shape the kind of people we become. Often, late at night, like so many of us do, I lie awake and think—a thousand different thoughts ricochet inside my mind, crashing like supercharged molecules in a pan of boiling water. It is there, in the dark of my room, lying in my bed, that I’ve had some of my deepest thoughts and most significant realizations.
