Mainly focus on individual needs Process theories= seek to understand the thought processes that determine behavior. Focuses on thought or cognitive process within minds of people and that influence their behavior. Reinforcement theories of motivation=emphasizes the means through which the process of controlling an individual’s behavior by manipulating its consequences takes places. Focus on observable rather than what is inside employee’s head. Motivation theories across cultures=North American theories are subject to cultural limitations. Determinants of motivation and the best ways to deal with it are likely to vary considerably across Asia, South America, Eastern Europe and Africa.
