1Bryce ConditLITR22123-Aug-15Ethan FromeThe novel of “Ethan Frome” was written by Edith Wharton, with the Romanticism as the mindset in which this novel took place, in which the story centers on the main character; Ethan Frome. Romanticism is a form of literary movement that focuses on more than one aspect. Theseaspects include but not limited to; historical consideration, imagination, nature, symbolism and myth, emotion, lyric poetry, and the self. Within this novel, the character Ethan Frome shows signs of different types of love throughout this novel.The love Ethan Frome had for his family was shown in the fact that when he was youngerhe went away from the farm to pursue a degree in Engineering. Then when his father had and accident, he moved back to Starkfield, Massachusetts, in “which he was left alone to carry the burden of the farm and mill.” (Ethan Frome) Shortly after he took over the farm and the mill, his mother became ill and he attempted to take care of her. This in turn caused him to neglect the farm and mill that his father left him. To help him out taking care of her, his cousin Zenobia Pierce, also known as Zeena, came to the farm to help him nurse his mother. “She laughed at himfor not knowing the basic bedside care” and told him to “leave her to see to things” so he could
