Ad According to the video The Ad and the Id , the average person is exposed to over 1,200 ads a day. Whether its television commercials, billboards, or magazines, the average American takes this bombardment of ads every single day, even if they are not fully aware of this. Knowing this, the ad agencies implement techniques to make the ad as affective as possible, as quickly as possible, such as this Civic Hybrid car ad. This ad uses the product to promise salvation from the destruction of our earth to sell the vehicle. It may not be evident at first, but fully analyzing the ad brings out techniques common in the ad business to sell the products, techniques hidden in the page. Symbols are often used in ads in order to quickly appeal to the subconscious. It takes one tenth of a second for an image to affect the mind. The image of a tree in the Civic ad is the most obvious symbol in the ad. The ad sells an environmentally friendly car, so then the message in the ad is about the environment. The tree represents hope in a world where greenhouse gasses and global warming
