Clubfoot is a common congenital condition in which the muscles and bones(musculoskeletal) of the feet are affected. A clubfoot, rather of being straight, points down andinward. The toes will point toward the opposite leg as a result of the twisting. It is possible for anewborn to be born with the deformity in one or both feet. This abnormality can result in thechild to develop health issues as they start walking or standing (Nichols, n.d.).In accordance with MD Orthopaedics (2020), Ignacio Ponseti was born in 1914 in Spainwhere he would become the well-known orthopedist for his studies and methods of correctingclubfoot non-surgically and it is now the standard treatment globally. He theorized that treatingclubfoot with surgical methods did more harm than good in children after his numerous years ofexperience observing in the clinic and operating room. Ponseti also observed the vast variety oftreatment being used and its affect on children post.
