RESPONSE TO CLIENT REQUEST I 2 Response to Client Request I MEMORANDUM TO: Regional Trucking Company Board of Directors FROM: Tonya Bond DATE: September 21, 2015 SUBJECT: FASB Codification Summary Re: Response to Client Request CC: Michael Meyer Researching the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) website, it has been determined that lease structures has a tremendous impact on the Regional Trucking Company. The choice to obtain extra equipment to the company can have a variety of benefits to the business model of the company. The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) provides several options for lease structures regarding direct financing, sales type, and operating leases (FASB, 2015). This memo will present the findings of the research and how it relates to the company. There are two types of lease the FASB allows, and they are capital leases (direct financing and sales type) and operating lease. The research obtained will allow the company to understand how to handle the request of the new customer to acquire 20 more additional trailers. The research will also inform the company of the potential for significant growth. It is important for the
