Unformatted text preview: Jince Jacob Sociology Reading Assignment #5 This week’s reading had us focused on more social wrongs, ranging from the socially unacceptable, to crimes, and finally onto racial discrimination. We began the week discussing deviant behavior, which includes acts that violate any social norm. Many of the socially deviant acts brought up Delaney are well known and agreed upon. We also discuss social deviant behavior that brush against the law, which has split views on each case, whether it is barely crossing to speed limit or committing a murder. Later in the week we viewed the ideas behind racial discrimination and how even simple words may be offensive in simple situations. The first part of the reading brings up social deviance, where social acts may go against what society has dictated as the norm. When the chapter starts off they bring up a point about eating dog, even though I would be against the idea myself, this made me think of ways I eat at home which may be considered strange in case to other people.
