Discuss the five theories and concepts that have been the most helpful for you from a personal perspective and why. Piaget’s theory : This theory describes my life pretty well since when I was young I used to call children to our home to play different games. This opened my eyes to learn and develop many skills and create different things as a child. I was very active and motivated to engage in new things. Personally this has helped me to be more open to learning new things as a person and even as I am in Murray University, There are a lot of things Ii am learning from my friends here. Bandura’s theory: This theory of self efficacy puts a apart of my life into perspective. It states that children will only put effort into doing those things that they feel they have a higher chance of completing well. As a child, I always avoided matters of self cleaning since I knew I would never reach my mother’s expectations or standards. However as I continue growing I realize I can only be my keeper and therefore try to do things myself to my best. Taking care of my siblings as the first born has also helped me a lot in achieving this since it would only be fair for me to do the best I could for them as the first born as a way of setting a good example to them. Chomsky’s theory: In this theory, Chomsky describes attention as the best way a child can imitate the parent. A case in point is when I used to where my fathers clothes or try speaking like him at times. This way I got to develop a sense of identity from my dad just from the imitation and his dressing style. As the first born, I got a lot of attention from my parents since they knew my behavior would have a positive or negative impact on my younger siblings. This is also directly related to Watson’s thoughts about how children imitate their parent’s actions and mannerisms. Erickson’s theory: From an early stage my parents always wanted me to be independent. As the first born in the family, I had to set a good example to my siblings and therefore my mother would often make me exercise some elements of responsibility and independence. Many a times, my mother would make me set the table for meals and thereafter clear the table off the dishes after the meal. Similarly I was following important influences for positive development outcomes as Erikson put it. As a grown up now, such influences take shape in my life especially when am away from home and am in school alone. The little elements of independence that I grew up with take shape in my life.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
