IntroductionIn today’s interdependent global economy, an Americanmight drive to work in a car designed in Germany thatwas assembled in Mexico by Ford from componentsmade in the United States and Japan that werefabricated from Korean steel and Malaysian rubber.She may have filled the car with gasoline at BP stationowned by a British company. The gasoline could havebeen pumped out of a well off the coast of Africa by aFrench oil company that transported it to United States ina ship owned by a Greek shipping line.
