The company I have selected is Netflix, Inc.This is the logo for Netflix. The streaming media service chose the combination of red andwhite colors as a standard for its emblem. Red symbolizes passion and energy, while whitewas probably chosen as a neutral background, against which the basic color stands out.Established in the year 1997, it is a subscription-based streaming service that allows membersto watch TV shows and movies without commercials on an internet-connected device. Theyoffer a wide variety of content, such as television, documentary, sit-coms, their own movieproduction and many more. Netflix pay licensing fees to other studios as a distribution fee fortheir content. Their primary profit is by offering different subscription plans that are monthly-based. The different plans provide basic to premium plans, catering to different groups ofpeople. For the basic plan, it is catered to just a person and it is affordable. For the premiumplan, it can cater to groups of people and since it is much cheaper per person, people willusually get their family members of friends to chip in and purchase this plan.
The diagram below is the organizational chart for Netflix.It uses a functional organization chart that prioritizes executive control from company HQalong with sub-divisions with different lines of communications. Communication is key tothe success of this organisational model. In Netflix’s organizational structure, it is categorizedinto 3 parts, the main “hierarchy” model like a traditional reporting line structure focuses onthe CEO, then communicated down to different groups like product, content, finance, legal,talent and communications. Then, it is continued to communicate through geographicaldivisions where they then have their own organizational structure and also the product andoperations divisions.
