ANALYZE YOUR APPROACH TO THE ISSUE: CHAIN EMAIL RESPONSE2Approach to Composing a Response EmailComposing a response to the Riverbend City EOC email string might prove tricky. Itshould address the contention apparent in the emails without inflaming it. The team leader mustbe authoritative and professional. Rules and guidelines for all interactions moving forward needto be established."Into this world, likewise, leaders are thrown. If they are not careful, they will fall into the trapthat "words alone" can bring. Instead of words, the leader must think in terms of communication." (Sriram, 2014).The responsibility of a leader is to foster a sense of comradery and encourage solidarity. Thereare several leadership styles to choose from:Democratic leaders create an environment that promotes equality. They weigh theimportance of productivity and people equally. This is the style that is most popular withmost people and the one that is the most effective when it comes to employeesatisfaction.Laissez-faire leaders are "hands-off" to the point of being completely absent. Withoutdirection or guidance, this style establishes a power vacuum that triggers conflict.Authoritarian style is based on control. The leaders micro-manage their employees.Having an authoritarian leader discourages employee loyalty to the company. Withoutloyalty, there will be more turnover and less productivity.
ANALYZE YOUR APPROACH TO THE ISSUE: CHAIN EMAIL RESPONSE3Bureaucratic leaders follow procedure. They are not forward-thinking or innovative.Much like the military, they focus on rank. It follows that this style cannot see the forestthrough the trees. Bureaucratic leadership may work well in large, establishedcorporations where rank-and-file employees are easily replaced, but it does not work wellin the modern "startup" company. An effective leader is aware of what others are doing. From subordinates to fellow managersand even upper management, a leader must know what each group is doing. They must be able tocommunicate their expectations and priorities and must be able to inform employees of changeswithin the rest of the company. Leaders must help their employees rise within the company andallow them opportunities for advancement. To be able to deal with conflict and diversepersonalities, leaders must have strong interpersonal skills. If employees do not feel like they cancome to their boss with their issues, they will not.Creating an inclusive culture is another main component of being a successful leader.
