11/19 Temperate Rain Forest o Dominated by needle leaf trees high o Climate Temperature Maritime influence produces moderate temperatures for relatively high latitudes Occasional frosts and snow Precipitation Abundant year round precipitation from storms coming off the ocean mP airmass dominates o Vegitation Large needleleaf trees Spruce, cedar, Douglas fur, and hemlock Many of the trees are fire adapted Low intensity surface fires Giant Redwoods Tallest trees in the world > 100m (330ft) Life to be up to 2000 years old Uses fog as a moisture source Boreal Forest o Boreal comes from “Boreas” which means north o Extensive biome that covers most of Canada and northern Russia and Scandinavia o Climate Temperature
