When we look at television programs, characters are often portrayed to fit certain groups of people. They’re actions may be a bit dramatic but we tend to think that these people represent the groups that they fit into as a whole. When it comes to ethnic and visible minorities, we can take the television program, Will and Grace as an example. Jack is a gay man and a very flamboyant, crazy, well-dressed, actor. The media uses him to represent the gay community as a whole. We often tend to think gay men should be very well groomed, and very over dramatic people. Besides the gay community, there are many other stereotypes encouraged by the media. In the exact same television program they stereotype Grace as an overly sassy jewish woman. There are different
