Argument Essay Structure Marijuana refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa, which contains a mind-altering substance THC. Marijuana is used in a variety of different ways. It can be rolled up like a cigarette; referred to as a joint, smoked out of a water pipe, converted into oil, even consumed in food such as brownies. Marijuana should be legal with Government Regulation and be handled in the same manner as alcohol and tobacco. Too much time and money are being spent trying to control and punish people with marijuana, rather than making millions, even billions off the plant if it were legal. There have been no recorded overdoses due to marijuana because, marijuana is not a chemically made drug. Marijuana can be a huge money making industry and also be a benefactor for people with illnesses. In all the years of marijuana usage there has not been one single case of a person having an overdose, not even a death because of smoking marijuana. The Majority of Americans say that marijuana is actually quite safer than alcohol. They also believe the use of it should be legal. CBS news conducted a poll nation wide, one question of this poll was “Should marijuana use be legal?”, where Fifty-three percent of respondents answered ‘yes’ to the question. In 2010, there was a recorded number of 25,692 alcohol induced deaths. In 2013, there were 29,001 deaths. Deaths caused by marijuana..Zero. In this sense, each year there are more and more alcohol induced deaths yet alcohol is legal and marijuana is illegal. Drugs are associated with addiction, habit and problems. Cannabis is associated with none of these. "Cannabis is not dope, it's everything from rope to hope!" Marijuana goes back as far as 7000 B.C and it was legal as recently as Ronald Reagan was a boy. (Why is Marijuana Illegal? by Pete Guither) Marijuana is one of the most valuable plants in the world. Every part of the plant is used.Hemp for paper, fabric, plastic. The seeds can be used as a food source, seeing as i contains many of the necessary fats such as omega 3 and 6. The seeds oil has been used as a cheap source of fuel, the flowers have been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. There are so many other usages for marijuana.
