Lionel Sims III 11/13/07 American Studies 141 Easy Rider Analysis In the film Easy Rider by Peter Fonda, a plethora of metaphors and symbols present themselves to the viewer in an attempt to express a wide variety of different concepts and ideas. One of the main overall themes that I believe that this movie intends to display is the universal idea of the “American Dream”. The American Dream has long been discussed and understood but a clear definition of the idea has never been described to me. Luckily, this means that my idea of it can’t be wrong. I always understood it to mean basically making enough money to do whatever it was that you wanted to do regardless of what was going on around you. This is what the films two main characters tried to attain on the travels across the country. Wyatt a.k.a.
