Healthy People 2000 Increase to at least 30%, the proportion of people aged 6 or older, to engage regularly, preferably daily, in light to moderate physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day. Only 22% are at this level. Inverted U Theory As arousal level increases, performance improves but only to a point beyond which increases in arousal leads to a deterioration in performance. RICE Rest (24-72 hours until swelling subsides 80% of normal range), Ice (15-20 mins 3x a day), Compression , and Elevation Recommended treatment for injuries. Stress Meditation, yoga, rest and sleep, massages, benson’s relaxation response, time management, exercise, diet, developing relationships, learning to communicate, diaphragmatic breathing, abstaining from drug/alcohol used, etc. are ways to manage stress.
