Teams that perform poorly may have unclear or shifting goals and priorities; poor communication; a lack of trust and commitment; a lack of cooperation; overpowering individualism; and inadequate skills. In contrast, the best teams exhibit clear goals; purpose and common vision; the ability to take action; flexibility; effective communication; strong personal commitment; strong relationships and sensitivity to individual differences; accountability for results; and a commitment to long-term progress. The formula for team success is simple: Have the attributes of effective teams; don't do the things that describe ineffective teams. The main difference between effective and ineffective teams is whether or not they pull together. Ineffective teams lack alignment, so team members are pulling in different directions.
