Garrett Ozar Week 9 Branding October 24, 2007 Professor Davidson Tom Peters’ article, “The Brand Called You”, is about how one’s image is represented by the brands that they where. Peters attempts to enlighten his readers not only about the importance of branding and how it is everywhere, but also its effect on the success of a company. He then turns into the direction of explaining how you are your own brand and need to establish exactly what you want to bring to the table. He then promotes the idea of doing extra at or outside of work to meet new people and to get noticed. His ideas on loyalty are that you need to be loyal to yourself, not the company you work for necessarily. In other words if you work hard and be loyal to yourself and your colleagues then the company will in turn be happy with your efforts because you are most likely creating a positive project for your company. He urges people to write their own mission statement, and start working on achieving it today. I found the article very insightful in a handful of different ways. I liked the idea that you are your own brand and that you need to market yourself just as large
