John DeLisle EPSY 341 10/1707 Violation of Standard Norms For class we were asked to break the standard normal routine of things and perform something out of the ordinary. For this, I chose to walk into an elevator and not turn around toward the door. I did this in the College of Business and the College of Education buildings. Traveling up the elevator, then back down was considered one case. Here are some of the reactions I received. College of Business CASE 1: I walked into the empty elevator in the College of Business on the first floor. I pushed the eighth floor and rode up to it. Again there was nobody. So I decided to just wait for someone to push the button. Within a minute the elevator started moving down to the eventual first floor. When the doors opened in walked two female students. I turned around and pushed the eighth floor button and then turned to face the wall. It was very quiet up to the 3 rd floor. When the elevator stopped and the doors opened they walked out and I hear them start to ask questions about why and the doors closed.
