John DeLisle CIMT 301 Lesson Plan 4 of 5 Check Writing Unit Grades 7 Time allotted: 43 minutes Background: The purpose of this lesson is for students to be introduced to balancing a checkbook. We have learned in previous lessons about what information is contained on a check, where that information is located, and how to write checks. Objectives: 1. When given a check and check information by the teacher, students will write a check with five of the seven parts correct. ( BTL.1.1.1, Psychomotor, Cognitive) 2. When recording transactions given by the teacher in the check register, students will correctly record five of the seven transactions. ( BTL.1.1.1, Cognitive, Psychomotor) Materials: 1. Pen 2. Practice checkbook 3. Transactions Handout 4. Overhead projector Procedures: 1. Introduction and Motivation 1. I will introduce the lesson for the day. We will be balancing a checkbook. The checks used in yesterday’s lesson will be used with today’s exercises.
