04/17/08 – World War Two Origins o 1930’s was incidences that lead to WW2 o Could not take Germany apart because Bolsheviks would take over, but if they don’t they remain as an unhappy state o France has a defensive reaction, it blockades o Britain is concerned with the cost from ww1 It rapidly demobilizes its army, spend 100 to 200 million pounds per year for military expenses Creates an air force from the spending Ten year rule o What happens to Britain and France is that they pursue a way to limit war to break out World disarmament- which would limit military numbers Locarno Treaty o The emergence of the Japanese empire, causes problems for British, after 1919 Japan becomes a fascist imperialistic state, this is disturbing for British because the Japanese fleet is growing to an aggressive threat, o Another aggressive power is Italy, moves into north and east Africa, 1936 Italy takes over Ethiopia (only African state to fight back), o 1936 Germany reoccupies Rhineland, 2 years later he annexes Austria
