Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) Growing up during the Enlightenment era, where traditional lines of authority were questioned and individualism were welcomed, Immanuel Kant found himself to be “one of the most modern thinkers of modern Europe” (Mastin). Kant was focused on using logic to understand reason and it was his sole belief that before we started to analyze our world we must possess and have a good working knowledge of the tools we would be using. Kant followed great philosophers of his time such as David Hume however his work was in disagreement of Hume’s perspective of moral judgments. Hume’s perspective of moral judgment was that it was an expression of a special kind of sentiment or moral sense. Kant disagreed and contended that reason is the basis of morality and it is not about expressing our own personal feelings. Kant worked as a lecturer for 15 years at the University of Konigsberg. He was unpaid and worked for the fees of those students who wanted to hear his lectures. While lecturing he was involved in his own work as a philosopher, and also worked on papers on logic and aesthetics.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
