Kohlberg’s Theory of Moral Development Considering Kohlberg’s Theory of Moral Development one must consider where they rank on that scale and if self-examination is necessary to make proper ethical and moral decisions. There are three levels in Kohlberg’s Theory. Level 1 is Pre-conventional Morality and there are two stages. Stage 1 is Obedience and Punishment which is the belief that rules are fixed and obeying the rules avoids punishment. Stage 2 is Individualism and Exchange which is the belief that actions are judged based on how they serve individual needs. Level 2 in Kohlberg’s Theory is Conventional Morality and there are also two stages to this level, stages 3 and 4. Stage 3 is Interpersonal Relationships which is the good boy-good girl orientation. One believes that they need to live up to social expectations and roles. There is emphasis on conformity and how choices made influence relationships. Stage 4 is Maintaining Social Order which is considering society as a whole when making judgements.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
