Being a multinational, the company engage in a global marketing campaign for the above products and services. Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight founded the company as Blue Ribbon Sports on January 25, 1964. Its headquarters are based in the Portland Metropolitan area near Beaverton, Oregon. Over the years, Nike has risen to be one of the most profitable multinationals; for instance, the company realized a profit margin of $ 24.1 in the 2012 fiscal year. At this time of business, the company's total tally of employees globally was a staggering 44,000 people. Additionally, in the 2014 fiscal years, the company's brand valued at $19 billion, which is the most valuable among all sports business. To achieve this success, the company has invested in various factors that surround marketing, competitive capabilities as well as products attributes. This part gives details about some of Nike's top officials including their tenure with the company. The first top official is Philip Knight, who is a cofounder of the company back in 1964.

As a qualified certified public accountant at the Price Waterhouse Coopers, the company credits him to have advanced NIKE from the small partnership to the global giant it is today. Since 1968, he has been the long-serving chair of the NIKE Board of Directors. Philip, however, served as the board's president for the period June 1983 to September 1984. Mark Parker is another NIKE top official. He started in 1979 as one of the company's innovative design team. Since then, Mark has brought several concepts and designs to further the company's competitive run of competitive sport and equipment brands. Apart from offering innovative ideas to trust the company to the global scale, Parker has also contributed greatly to the company diversification strategies such as the establishment of Converse Inc. as well as the Hurley International. Today, Mark serves as the CEO and president of NIKE Inc.
