2 WALMART Introduction Major Organizations across the world have diverse goals and objectives. They put all effort towards achieving these goals and objectives in the best way possible. Management of any business organization serves an important purpose for the group. The management team must, therefore, be precise and efficient in its work to ensure appropriate activities are undertaken (Birkinshaw, 2014). Chief executive officers of most companies in the United States hold the responsibility of ensuring that the organization has strategies that work. In any given time, the CEO may decide to analyze the current environment of the organization and identify the improvements required. Hiring experts to assess the company and provide solutions of strategies that need to be followed to achieve specific targets is common in most top organizations like Walmart. Walmart vision and mission Since its inception, Walmart has developed under dynamic circumstances because of its well-planned strategies and top management functions. Without such policies, the company would fail in the market and lose its customer base over time. One of the primary drivers of the company is the vision and mission of the company. A vision statement defines the desired state of being in the future for an organization while a mission statement outlines the present state of a
3 WALMART business organization. "We save people money so they can live better" is the mission statement for Walmart (Chan, 2014). This mission statement explains what the company does, whom it does it for and how it does the said business activity. Walmart helps people to save money by providing cheap quality goods and services. This ultimately leads to the creation of better living conditions for the population in the society. The vision statement of Walmart similarly states that, “If we work together, we will lower the cost of living for everyone, and we will also give the world a chance to see what it is like to save and have a better life." This provides inspiration to the people working in the organization to achieve the state of helping people live better (Chan, 2014). This situation of a better life is created by giving people a chance to save the little resources they have by shopping at Walmart. A combination of these statements and efficient management of Walmart has seen the organization grow steadily since its foundation.
