How did Buddhism find its way to China? Why do you think this outside belief was so readily accepted into Chinese society? How was Buddhism integrated into China? To see how Buddhism started its spread in China you have to look into its origins. Buddhism originated from central Asia, modern day northern India and Nepal, from a prince named Buddha Shakyamuni. These ideas were brought around in about 500 B.C. Buddhism can be broken down into three simple beliefs: To lead a moral life, to be mindful and aware of thoughts and actions, and to develop wisdom and understanding (White, 1993). It is a peaceful religion about finding one’s self and developing an understanding of what everything is about. Buddhism began to spread to China during the Han Dynasty’s big expansion. With the Han Dynasty spreading outwards from China they started to venture into Central Asia. The Chinese being in central Asia they ran into a new religion to them called Buddhism. As the Han
