Music 1070-Music of the People: Rock and Pop Instructor: Dr. Tomm Roland, Office: PAC 220, Phone: 554-3155, email: [email protected] Office Hours: Tue, Wed 1-2. Required Materials: Whats That Sound? An Introduction to Rock and its History by John Covach- available in the bookstore. In addition there are appx 70 listening examples for the course. You are required to become familiar with these examples. Details of how/where to purchase examples if you need to will be provided. eInstruction CPS Response pad- a class “clicker”, available in the bookstore (also requires separate registration fee of $13). Exams: There will be two types of examinations, written and listening. There will be 3 “written” exams that will be objective in design and will account for 45% (15% for each exam) of the final grade. All questions will be selected from textbook material, lecture information, and special events including: video tape presentations, guest performances and lectures. There will be 3 listening exams that will account for a total of 45% (15% for each exam) of the final grade. The format of the listening exams will be multiple choice where you are asked to identify which of the pieces that is being
