Welcome to an exciting experience. This is a UNIQUE COURSE. I guarantee that it will be one of the most interesting courses you will ever take . What is the Babson “Ultimate Entrepreneurial Challenge” Course all about? In the following pages, I will convey to you the many exciting and challenging aspects of this class. This is a new challenging course in which you will be exposed to, through case studies and actual experiences, the full spectra of problems and the challenges that you will face if you decide to become an entrepreneur. The class will include visits by actual entrepreneurs who will “interact” with you in answering questions, relating their experiences, and presenting problems they encountered along the “road less traveled.” We combine the optimism of our students with the wisdom of experience. We challenge you to make decisions in a particular situation and challenge you to propose solutions. The class will be taught utilizing teams and CEOs, and these teams will change throughout the semester. In this class, you the students, will also be asked to provide guidelines as to subjects to be covered, how to formulate your teams, and the criteria for evaluating success (grading). Introduction I have over 20 years of business experience and own and operate several successful family entrepreneurial companies. I have over 2,000 clients and I am a consultant to a large number of businesses. I am also an acknowledged successful entrepreneur and I won the Babson Appel Teaching Award for Innovative Teaching. Although this semester’s class is entitled “The Ultimate Entrepreneurial Challenge,” it has a strong emphasis on your utilizing entrepreneurial thinking and creativity. I am anxious to work with future successful entrepreneurs. If you believe that you will be a successful entrepreneur in the future, this class will be invaluable. 2

Potential entrepreneurial successes should have some or all of these characteristics: They are eager beavers and mavericks. They “think outside the box.” They have a “passion” to be a winner. They work well in an “unstructured environment.” They are competitive. They work effectively in teams. They do more than they are expected to do. They are calculated risk takers.
