To illustrate, he believes that this transformation caused the Rome to become the “theatre of crime, the disgrace of nations, and the plaything of barbarians” from once being “the temple of virtue”. The mores were used to be determined naturally and then, according to Rousseau, society become suspicious, cold, fearful and hateful. He also states that, what truly matters is to be a citizen and in the modern societies it falsified to call ourselves a citizen. Thus, Rousseau supported the importance of the values that where present in the ancient societies and the reformation process that has started centuries ago made men vile. Lastly, he argues that this obscurity will continue unless we cannot combine power with enlightenment and wisdom....
