Relationships Relationships are a huge part of almost every human’s life - many people see life without close friends, or at least a few acquaintances, as dismal and lonely. It is very important to establish and maintain close relationships. There are many ways to predict whether or not two people will be attracted to each other, such as The Mere Exposure Effect, which says that repeated exposure to a person will make him or her seem more attractive (Lecture, 11/14/07). The first encounter of two people can also predict if they will be attracted to each other. If, when they first meet, the two people perceive that they are similar or that one of them already likes the other one, they are more likely to be attracted to each other (Lecture, 11/14/07). These are the two effects that first attracted me to my current boyfriend, David. David and I met through a mutual friend with whom we both spent time on the weekends.
