Matthew Griffin “Computer Literacy” 1 Computer Literacy People think they know everything about computers, because they can surf the World Wide Web and use their programs such as word and excel. However, there is more to computers than spending your time on the internet. Computers can show you how to do what ever you want to do. People need to be computer literate so that if problems arise with their computers or they have problems with connecting to the internet and so on, so they know what to do when something happens. One of the main questions that come from students and people in general is, “Why is Computer Literacy Necessary?”. In most places of business, a computer is standard. In banks, they use computers to look up your account information. They use computers in the auto repair shop to assess your car. You cannot find books in the library by looking in a card catalog; you must use a computerized database. Doctors' offices utilize computers to store patient information. The point is that no matter where you find employment, there is a good chance a computer will be a basic tool you will have to use. It is in your best interests to start off computer literate. It will help you get a job and it will help you advance in your career. Computer literacy does not mean you need to know how use every single piece of software you may encounter. It does not mean you need to know how to write programs or network computers. You just need to know some basics

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
