Kimberly Braga Pair Teaching Activity EED381-03 Topic: Geography Title of Activity: Local, National and International Objectives : Students will be able to: -define local, national and international. -look at different newspaper articles and distinguish between local, national and international. -locate states on a United States map, and continents on a world map. Activity addresses NYS Social Studies standard 3.1: Students will locate places within community, state and nation, locate Earth’s continents in relation to each other. This activity would be done in a 5 th grade classroom. In the NYS curriculum this is where my activity would fit in. Students in 2 nd and 3 rd grade learn about their community and the location of their community. In 4 th grade they learn about New York so by 5 th grade they are learning more about the world and already have knowledge of their community and state. That’s where learning the difference between local, national and international and locating states and continents should fit in. Previous Activities
