Name:Campos; Jay Vee M.Subject:EDUC 9Course & Year: Beed 3BInstructor:Jane C. TejeroChapter 1-3Activity # 1.-In my own definition curriculum serves as a central guide for all educators in terms ofwhat is required for effective teaching and learning, ensuring that every student hasaccess to challenging academic experiences.Activity # 2.Idea or Recommended CurriculumImplemented CurriculumAchieved Curriculum or Learned CurriculumTested CurriculumEntitlement CurriculumSupported CurriculumNull or Censored CurriculumHidden CurriculumActivity # 3.-It provides teachers with concrete tools and objectives, encourages imagination, andallows for self-reflection. Most significantly, program documentation increases studentoutcomes. All of the benefits listed by respondents came together to shape thiscommon objective. Students profit from a well-organized program that meets highstandards. The only possible pitfall that I see are teachers' reluctance or unwillingness toadjust their teaching methods in order to achieve a behavior-based curriculum.Activity # 4.-The role of the teacher in curriculum development: Teachers know their students betterthan everyone else involved in the curriculum development process. While the stateoften prescribes the skills covered by the curriculum, the teacher can provide insightinto the types of materials, activities and specific skills that need to be included.Activity # 5.-For example, the teacher teaches animals in general without the classification ofanimals.Activity # 6.-Social expectations of gender, language, behavior, or morals areexamplesof hiddencurriculum. For example, if students earn a good grades or extra credit for turninghomework on time, listening attentively, participating in classes, raising their hands, and
generally doing things they are told to do, students may learn that compliance isimportant and that certain behaviors will be rewarded academically.Activity # 7.-Term curriculum refers to the lessons and academic content taught in a school or in aspecific course or program. In dictionaries, curriculum is often defined as the coursesoffered by a school, but it is rarely used in such a general sense in schools. Depending onhow broadly educators define or employ the term, curriculum typically refers to theknowledge and skills students are expected to learn, which includes the learningstandards or learning objectives they are expected to meet; the units and lessons thatteachers teach; the assignments and projects given to students; the books, materials, videos, presentations, and readings used in a course; and the tests, assessments, andother methods used to evaluate student learning. An individual teacher’s curriculum, forexample, would be the specific learning standards, lessons, assignments, and materialsused to organize and teach a particular course.
