He's excited about the world Historians are going think this time is crucial What is so great about gloabilization, we will make a planetary plan, current events, course mechanics Intro to World Regions 1. Globalization - we're not physically getting any smaller, but people are becoming more interconnected and interdependent Globalization has been happening for at least ten thousand years We all started off in Africa and then we migrated and explored and inhabit more lands, pushing to all corners of the globe We are coming back together again, he calls it a "reckoning" As village to village connections grew, trade routes developed, global colonization, global connection (telephone lines, railways, shipping routes, global airline systems); all of this allows people all over the planet to interact in more ways more frequently The process of increasing the interconnectivity and interdependency of markets, cultures, businesses, etc. and it has sped up due to technology (cell phone, telecommunications, internet) Internet has a lot of power- information dissemination (sharing, research sharing) people are able to work together more; plus social networking is getting bigger We are all coming all back together via all these things that bring us together Is the world globalized? Not yet…but we there are some aspects of our lives that are completely globalized and some that aren't there yet Example - economy is globalized (banking, global prices, etc) Communication is globalized now - telecommunications are all global; we can get signals everywhere and technology is going to get better, but it is fully globalized Transportation is globalized - we have many different ways to get different places faster and more efficiently, allows us to be connected faster and easier Culturally, we are globalized (not all, but many things) - music, art, food NOT globalized yet - politics and governments (no single global political system or law or police or justice or environmental policy); these are things that people are debating about So what? It is basically impossible for us to think that we are going to go our whole lives without having to deal with globalization - will have to leave our hometowns and we will live, work, play, marry, travel, do business, and have to do globalizations. Even if we don't want to, we will be affected by it. We have to smarter about what is happening in the world. World is globalizing, but we are also living in a pivotal time in the U.S. Our previous generations lived their entire existence in a non globalized world were U.S. was number 1 in everything and we have gotten used to it and don't care about the rest of the world…but that is changing and the world is also changing; other powers are rising and will surpass the U.S.; think Asia Russia is coming back, EU is getting bigger, Latin America is rising as well Going Global: The Story of Globalization 2.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
