Greg Stoker February 25, 2008 Professor Linck FNPL-101 Convenience Checks Before taking this course and reading about convenience checks, I had never heard of them. Now that I know what they are and what they can be used for, they seem like a totally bad idea and something that should be avoided at all costs. The size of the penalties and interest rates are unbelievable. I suppose for some people there would be times when a cash advance via a convenience check is their only option, but I never see

So long as a person keeps a grip on their finances by balancing their checkbooks, using credit cards wisely, and having adequate emergency funds, they shouldn’t ever need a convenience check either. I agree with what was said in the article that there is no real upside to convenience checks, and creditors should stop offering them....
