Unformatted text preview: Procedure Setup: 1. Pick up the calorimeter and make sure it is completely clean and dry. If it is not, run it under some water and then dry it with a paper towel. Also make sure that the nylon band used to wrap around the calorimeter is dry. If either of these is wet, it will make it harder to crank the calorimeter and produce some error for the experiment. Check to make sure both are dry throughout the experiment and in between each trial. 2. Open the data sheet labeled Exp10Datasheet in DataStudio. No measure T , the temperature in the room, with the calorimeter. 3. Find out the mass of the dry calorimeter (including the locking nut) by placing it on a digital scale. Record this in your datasheet in the space marked m c . Now find out the mass of the nylon band by placing it on the digital scale.
