CHEM 231 Fall 2007 Exam 2 Study Guide Exam #2 will be given on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 Biswas, Rackley, and Pritchett Ch. 2. Goals 5-7. Names and formulas for ionic compounds, binary molecular compounds, acids bases and hydrates. Polyatomic ions will be included. Classification of compounds Ch. 3 . All Goals. Ch. 4 . Goals 1 & 2. See examples at bottom of sheet. (you must know how to read the solubility table, This test will consist of 15 multiple choice questions (45 points) Some one step problems will be included ( gram to moles, atoms to moles, molar mass etc ) A fill-in-the-blank section on nomenclature and balancing equations (25 pts) A workout section (30 points) Stoichiometry problems, including limiting reactant, theoretical yield, and percent yield Calculate the average atomic mass of an element from its isotopic composition. Sample questions for Chapter 4. Identify the major ions present in an aqueous LiOH . solution.
