Rackley ARMS Annex B 724-4490 [email protected] 03 MWThF; 11:00 AM ARMS 106 COURSE DESCRIPTION: CHEM 231 is the first part of a two-semester general college chemistry sequence. The course is designed to provide a rigorous chemistry background in preparation for advanced courses in areas of science and engineering. The topics include stoichiometry, atomic structure and periodic table, molecular structure, gas laws, kinetic molecular theory, oxidation and reduction and properties of gases, liquids and solids. COURSE PREREQUISITES: Placement in CHEM 231 requires a course in high school chemistry and concurrent registration in MATH 107 (or higher level math). If you do not satisfy the prerequisites for enrollment in CHEM 231, you may be advised to enroll in the introductory chemistry course, CHEM 101 . You should discuss the best course of action with your instructor and academic advisor. COURSE MATERIALS
