Murray State University Psychology Dept. 1988 The author, a former psychology student at Murray State University, uses a number of tests and sessions with an autistic child to study the effect that music had on the child during these sessions. The author covers five main points through the book; characteristics and features to diagnose autism, the nature of communication deficits within autistic children; cognitive strengths and weaknesses, a review of current therapies; and rhythm and music therapy as they apply to autism. The author gets the information from more than thirty sources, and effectively cites them throughout the work.
