Justin vanMelle Professor M. Easter Writing 150 12 November 2007 Inside the Eye of the Tiger Tiger Woods is one of the best golfers of the day, and will go down as one of the greatest of all-time. Tiger has accomplished numerous feats, while he is re-writing the PGA record books. Tiger’s fame and fortune have been highlights for him over the past decade, which have defined him as a professional athlete. Most know him for his success on the golf course, what he has overcome off is even more spectacular as defining him as an icon. Eldrick Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California (“Tiger Woods 1). On this day one of the best male athletes came into the world. Eldrick got the nickmane “Tiger” from a Vietnamese soldier that his dad knew, who he said was also a tiger (“Tiger Woods” 1). This nickname is a perfect fit for how Tiger has taken life in perspective. Tiger is not only one of the best golfers in history, but he is also one of the most influential golfers to play the game. Growing up Tiger knew that he was different, not by the ability to play golf, but to that he was African American. Tiger is also part Asian which his mother is Thai/Chinese (“Tiger Woods Biography” 1). Race has always played a big part in our world, and society, but Tiger has battled through any criticism by going out and being the
