Unformatted text preview: Jack Brossart and Katie Oden MIS Dr. Wang 23 Oct 2007 Columbiana can be easily marketed to willing consumers through the Internet. When deciding what model to use for Columbiana we referred to a few other similar information sites. This laid out for us what is crucial, optional, and excessive information for this type of website. From these sites we transferred what we thought to be imperative, and left out what consumers do not need to have on a site. The two sites we looked at were Dominican Republic and TCInvest . These are both government sites developed to attract tourism and investment. One site is for the Dominican Republic the other is for the Turks and Caicos Islands. Both sites are Information Brokers. There are no money transactions on the site. No fees are collected, the product is not the content, and it is not a portal. Neither site uses ads. The sites receive money from the government and do not need the financial support from ads. We do not have a government sponsor ergo our website will have ads. The addresses to the sites are easy to remember. This was something we observed and applied. The Dominican Republics address is GoDominicanRepublic.com. This is catchy and simple to remember. For the Turks and Caicos Islands it is TCInvest.tc. This is a clever play on words, repetitive, and also easy to remember. The invest part of the link also reminds the consumer why they are visiting the site, to invest! We agreed our site name should be simple, easy to remember, and to the point as well.
