1 Discussion Adrenal glands are located on top of the kidneys. They are responsible for regulating the stress response. They are also the bodies main source of epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). Epinephrine increases the heart rate and helps with the conversion of glycogen to glucose in the liver while norepinephrine increases blood pressure (Endocrinology Health guide). This is mainly because of the amount of aldosterone present. With increased size of the adrenal glands, hematocrit increased. This is also due to alsosterone.
