PHY 112 Electromagnetism: Speakers, D.C. Electric Motors, and generators For this lab we ran a collection of numerous experiments to observe the nature of electromagnetism. The first experiment that was observed was the force of a magnetic field from a wire carrying a current. The apparatus is shown below with the appropriate magnetic fields being shown. When the switch was closed the current that formed the magnetic field interacted with the magnet causing the wire to move away from the magnet. This was we had predicted would occur when the switch was closed. When we rewired the apparatus as told in the instructions we observed the following: A) Repelled B) Repelled C) Repelled D) Nothing happened Ei) Repelled more Eii) Repelled less These results all concurred with our predictions. The next experiment concerned the workings of speakers concerning electromagnetism. We observed that when we closed the switch on the circuit the speaker moved down slightly. We had predicted that it would move either up or down, but we weren’t sure as to which direction. We also found that if we reversed the flow of the current
