Arches and vaults were builtwithout stone. The cathedral was crownedwith 13 domes in the form of a pyramidalstructure, symbolizing Christ and 12apostles, but after last rebuilding it has 19domes and 249 feet bell tower. The lowerparts of the domes are painted in green; theupper parts of the domes are covered in areal gold and the golden crosses wereinstalled on the top of each dome. Thecathedral can be compared in sizes withNotre-Dame de Paris. The building issurrounded by two rows of galleries, whichlightened the mass of the cathedral, so thatthe monumental structure does not "putpressure" on the audience. The facades aredecorated with figured pediments,ornaments, and paintings. The central placein the interior is occupied by the spaceunder the dome in the form of a cross.Partitions and columns are decorated withimages of 500 saints. On the vaults of thedomes are scenes from the Bible. There is a19 feet mosaic image of the mother of Godin bright blue robes in the middle of thealtar. In a soft golden shimmer, she is raisingher hands to the sky, as if asking Christ forleniency to human sins.
