Style Sheet for Essays Format All papers must be printed double-spaced. Please proofread carefully before printing the final copy of your paper. Leave a margin of 1 inch at the top, bottom, and each side of the paper, to allow for comments. Give your paper adescriptivetitle that indicates your thesis (“Essay onMacbeth” will not do) and place this title at the top of the first page. Pages should be stapled, not presented loose or bound with a paper clip. Documentation When quoting from or referring to a play, simply provide the act, scene, and line number(s) in parentheses, e.g., (2.3.425-29).Any quotations from or references to an editor’s introduction or a critical study should be cited using the standard format described below.
