More child sex abuse cases by European troops in AfricaCENTRAL IDEA/THESIS: The United Nations is reporting that numerous sexual abuse cases have emerged from Africa. These sexual abuse cases have become rampant and there has been norepercussions for the actions of these “peacekeepers.” SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To inform the audience about child sex abuse occurring in Africa by theEuropean troops. INTRODUCTION:(Attention Getter):A little girl around seven years old asks a soldier, who she thinks can be trusted, for a bottle of water and some cookies. She thinks she will just get the cookies and water and be on her way, but she was wrong. The soldier forced her to perform sexual acts before hewould give her what she asked for. Sexual abuse cases have been running rampant in the Central African Republic. Dozens of little boys and girls are being abused daily by these so called “peacekeepers.” With a fight regarding sexual abuse cases in Africa, there has been little to no consequences for those who have abused these little children.(Relevance to Audience): Peacekeepers were sent to Africa to help the communities get back on their feet. Since being there, they have increased the number of sexual assaults. In 2002 the Experience ofRefugee Children states that the UN gender reform has never been implemented to a degree where it keeps peacekeepers from sexually assaulting anyone. Until the UN fully puts that reform into place, women and children of all ages will continue to get sexually assaulted by peacekeepers. (Thesis): Peacekeepers serving in the UN have been accused of committing sexual abuse and exploitation against hundreds of women and children in Africa. These reports continue to flood in despite efforts by the UN to find the cause and stop these actions from happening.(Preview):In order to fully understand the sexual abuse scandals in Africa, we must first look at what actually is going on in Africa. Then, we have to learn what the UN has to say about all of the cases. Lastly we will look at what actions are being taken to make sure this doesnot happen anymore.
