Wendy Drennon ANT 4302-01 Dr. Mary Pohl 7 April 2008 Outreach Program From my studies, I see that Latin America is one of the places where gender issues are still very prominent. In the United States, we are still battling gender roles as well, but we have come quite far from where we were and this has a lot to do with many feminist movements. I believe in free speech. I think that the more people that become a part of globalization in our day and age are ultimately going to have all the same outlooks on gender. However, everyone has a different opinion and everyone has a different culture so these global gender roles may never be possible. FSU’s Center for Civic Education Outreach Program helps natives of Latin America learn English by speaking with them. My mission was to observe and ask about different gender aspects of that person’s life while helping them learn their English. Even though I did two females, Jacqueline and Cleo, I feel like I still got a great deal of information about the gender roles in Latin America. I enjoy listening to the stories that
