Wendy Drennon HUM 3930 – 01 Prof. Susana Dias-Boria 8 April 2008 Viewer Response to El Norte I thought that El Norte showed the great deal of struggle that some immigrants go through to make it to the USA. In this case, Enrique and Rosa are native Indians in Guatemala who are being killed for their land. Their father was killed by the military and their mother was taken with the first raid on their town. Their father said that people only fight over good land, and unfortunately, they had good land to fight over. However, they did not have enough man power to keep it their own and lost everything. They left to go to the USA because they have always heard about how great it is. They stated how even the poorest people have a toilet and how excited that sounded. They had to travel by foot, bus, and also had to hitchhike in order to reach the border and because they were refugees from Guatemala they had to pretend to be Mexican which was an adventure within itself. It was good that they had some connections in order to get
